Reflecting on the week:
I have always favoured paint as a material, especially acrylic. However, this week's brief has poised some questions. Trying to study and replicate other artists techniques and methods of working made me more cautious with acrylic and braver with watercolour. To me, some of my best work has been in acrylic paint, but this week, all my watercolour pieces I preferred. Some of this may be due to the briefing at the start of the week where the basics of paint were explained which I had not been told before, I had more of an understanding of what paint likes and how to use and apply it (especially watercolour). I had only ever really used acrylic in one way before, so to then use different techniques replicate artists styles was difficult. I asked for. meeting with Tony to talk about this and he told me how colour and light etc works and it all came down to just practicing.
The main artists I wanted to take from this week were Peter Blake and Ewan McClure and their use of bold tones and colour and the emotions that come through the pieces.
